week 5

Pregnancy Week 5

At this point of pregnancy, the placenta is being developed and will be finished at the end of the first trimester. This organ will connect your developing fetus to your uterine wall, which will be providing your baby to be with proper oxygen and nutrients that will keep it properly healthy and developed.

Not only that, there is a proper chance that a home pregnancy test kit could confirm that you are having a baby. This is because at some point in this week, your hCG hormones level will become high.

At the fifth week, the mass of cells that we call an embryo is starting to look like a fetus. It will form a neural tube (pre-spinal cord and brain) running from head to rump. This is known as the embryo to fetus part of the pregnancy.

Heartbeat Of Your Baby

At some point of this week, there is a possibility that your baby now has a heart. A lot of development is needed for cells to become a baby. Major and minor body systems such as digestive, nervous, circulatory, and etc. have to develop from scratch. You want to keep in mind that the first system to be operational is the circulatory system, which is responsible of getting our blood to each corner of our body. Not only that, but at this point the heartbeat of your baby could be seen. With early ultrasound, there is a possibility that you can feel and see the heartbeat of your baby.

At 5 weeks pregnant, the baby’s heart is already made up of 2 tiny channels, which are known as heart tubes. And they are working hard to get that blood going. At some point of this week, the neural tube will developed too.
