Foods Parents Should Never Give To Their Young Children

Parents should properly look at what their little ones are consuming on a daily basis, considering that giving a proper diet to your Young Child is extremely important if you want to keep them healthy.

There are a number of foods that all parents should avoid giving their little ones, and if you don’t know which ones to avoid, don’t worry, we got you.

Below, we are going to list down some of the many foods that parents should never give to their young children.

Foods Your Little One Should Avoid

1. Salt

You have to keep in mind that little kids, particularly the ones that are under 5 years old, should not eat too many salty foods because it’s not good for their kidneys, which is why you should never add too much salt to your baby’s food or cooking water. Not only that, but avoid using stock cubes or gravies too.

2. Sugar

They might like eating sweet foods, but the thing is that your baby does not really need too much sugar. By simply avoiding foods like fruit drinks, soft drinks, chocolates, and many other overly sweet foods, you can help your little one avoid getting tooth decay and other illnesses that are linked with consuming too many sweets.

3. Saturated Fat

A lot of parents give their little one’s foods that have high amounts of saturated fats, which is not good because it can cause cholesterol to build up in your body. Foods such as crisps, biscuits, cakes, milk, white pastries, and butter should be avoided by your little ones.

4. Honey

If your kid is less than 1 year old, you should never give them honey. Remember, honey, contains bacteria that are capable of producing harmful toxins in the intestines of a baby, which can lead to infant botulism, which is a very serious illness that can cause death or severe weakness. Not only that but avoiding giving honey to your little one will also help you avoid tooth decay.

5. Whole Nuts And Peanuts

If your kid is below 5, you should not give them nuts and peanuts, considering there is a high chance that they can choke on them. Not only that, but if anyone in your family has peanut or nut allergies, you should talk with your doctor first before giving your little one some. You just want to be on the safe side.

6. Cheeses

Not all cheeses, but some types of cheeses should be avoided by little ones.

Babies and young children should not eat mold-ripened soft cheeses, which includes:

  • Barrie
  • Camembert
  • Ripened goat milk cheese
  • Blue veined cheese
  • Roquefort

These cheeses are avoided because there is a high risk that they carry a bacteria called listeria, which can cause mild, flu-like symptoms such as fever, chills, muscle aches, and diarrhea, or upset stomach.
