Rear passenger space is fantastic and also adjustable if you need more cargo room, which is already quite roomy for a small SUV. In keeping with GMC's professional-grade truck image, the Terrain has a distinctive three-deck chrome grille; beefy, squared-off fenders and wheelwells; and slab sides which are more masculine than the Chevrolet Equinox. It's still very unique and stylish in appearance. Researched this vehicle and finally took the leap and got a used one 2012 with only 8200 miles. Newly standard is a touchscreen-driven audio system that will also be able to connect music apps on smartphones to the car's audio system, enabling Bluetooth voice control and streaming music from sources like Pandora. The navigation of the menus is great, especially with a touch screen, and the vehicle is smart enough to default to the method of calling, etc. Dig deep into the four-cylinder, and you'll probably find it has plenty of power for almost every need; we think the V-6 is only necessary if you're always filling all the Terrain's seats, or maxing out the six-cylinder's 3500-pound towing capacity. An "ECO" button on the dash in the four-cylinder model lowers the torque converter lockup speed to 1,125 rpm for enhanced efficiency, though then the engine feels a little less responsive. However, I have had this vehicle for just under two years and am on my third motor. With 0.75g lateral acceleration and 28.7-second/0.58g run through our figure-eight cones, Terrain is again at the back of this pack. The GMC Terrain is available with E85 FlexFuel capability on Ecotec 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines for 2012. Unique to the four-cylinder is a special active noise cancellation system that works through both the built-in audio system and a few dedicated speakers to allow the engine to run at its most efficient RPM range.
